The 2021 WRC Safari Rally Kenya, has officially started. We thank H.E the President, who since 2013, has diligently pursued the return of the Safari Rally to Kenya. The Government, under his leadership, has provided financial, technical and administrative support, towards the planning and hosting of the 2021 WRC Safari Rally.

We have waited for this day for 19 years. Today’s official launch of the WRC Safari Rally, is important for all of us, as we restore the majesty of the Safari Rally in Kenya. This event holds great social and economic potential, for varied sectors of our economy. Its international profile, has attracted over 850 million viewers, as Safari Rally contingents, spectators and global television viewers.

We anticipate 1.5 billion online impressions and 6 billon shillings, in the form of foreign currency into the country. The viewership and digital impressions will enhance our image as the world’s top sporting destination.

I want to appreciate our local partners; KCB Bank, Toyota,KBC, Safaricom and many others, whose support has enriched our public-private partnership engagements, as we prepared for this event, and hopefully for future events. I also recognize the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and World Rally Championship (WRC), for their involvement in the organization of this world-class experience.
