Thiba Dam Construction in Kirinyaga County Underway

Thiba Dam Construction in Kirinyaga County is under construction is expected to be complete by December 2021. It will put an additional 10,000 acres under irrigation and substantially raise rice and horticultural production.
Plenty of irrigation water will enable farmers to plant rice at least twice a year unlike the current one season harvest. The project will boost agriculture as an economic activity and increase the number of people directly and indirectly within the larger Mwea irrigation scheme.
