President Macron Arrives in Kenya for a Historic State Visit

(MFA Press). A sunny Wednesday afternoon, 1405 hours, the jet bearing President Emmanuel Macron of France touches down at the JKIA. On hand to receive him is CS Dr. Monica Juma. After an exchange pleasantries, signing of the visitors book and a short briefing – they proceed to meet his host HE President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

President Macron is on a State visit on the invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta. He is received to a colourful ceremony and 21-gun salute at State House Nairobi before proceeding for a private engagement with President Kenyatta and a bilateral meeting thereafter. On top of the agenda is strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations between Kenya and France, and deepening cooperation in sustainable environmental management.

“President Macron is an addition to the growing numbers of strategic partners arriving in Nairobi. Clearly Nairobi has become the undisputed convening point for not only expanding our bilateral relations but most importantly forging international consensus on global issues,” — CS Juma.

President Macron will accompany his host President Kenyatta for the Fourth United Nation Environmental Assembly meeting and to the One planet summit, both scheduled at the UNON complex on Thursday 14th March 2019. Also attending these meetings will be the H.E. President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar, H.E. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, H.E President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, H.E Édouard Ngirente,Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda.
