Thank you Dr. Kinyua, Hon. Raila Odingaand Amb. to Japan, PS Joe Okudo for joining us on the final day of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Trials. We have witnessed the impressive capacities of our athletes in the past three days and it is clear that they are ready to represent our beloved Country in the forthcoming Olympics.
Our record at the Olympics is well known. At the 2016 Rio Olympics Kenya garnered 13 medals (6 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal). Our athletics team has consistently brought glory and honor to our country and we are grateful.
To safeguard our wins and support our athletes HE President Uhuru Kenyatta established the Sports Fund and directed the Ministry to put in place the structures and systems required for our athletes to realize and maximize their potential. I wish athletes selected for the Olympics all the best as they move to the next stages of their preparations.
