Fountain of Knowledge: History of the University of Nairobi 1952-2020 follows the development of the University from its origins as the Royal Technical College in 1952, to the World Class University it has become in 2020. As the ‘mother’ university in Kenya, its history also provides a narrative of the evolution of university education in Kenya over the same period. Major events, activities and policies changes that have shaped university education are presented in the context of the University of Nairobi’s growth.
