Tree Planting at Former VoK Dumpsite
The Mombasa County Government of Mombasa through the Department of Environment, Waste Management & Energy had a tree planting exercise at the newly cleared VoK dumpsite in conjunction with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. This year’s theme dubbed “Celebrate Biodiversity,” gave guidance to the department to plant over 30 species of trees with over 12 indigenous trees that are currently facing extinction. This will form part of the greater ecosystem that will emerge from the various species.
The County expressed its appreciate for the cooperation of residents in keeping the area clean. They designated two trucks on site for the time being to enable proper disposal of waste. They took the opportunity to thank Seedballs Kenya for their contribution.
