Senate Establishes Committee to Investigate Proposed Impeachment of Governor Anne Waiguru

Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio gave a notice of motion for establishment of a Select Committee to investigate the proposed removal from Office by Impeachment of the Governor of Kirinyaga County and report within ten days. Comments from other Senators during the debate,
The aspirations of the people of Kirinyaga were expressed through their Members of the County Assembly, and that [the Senate] will make a fair ruling through the Select Committee on matter of Impeachment of Governor of Kirinyaga Governor. Regional balance was considered by Senate Business Committee when forming the Select Committee. – Senator Malala
The people of Kirinyaga have spoken through their representatives thus [the Senate] must protect the will and be faithful to the people of Kenya as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya. – Senator Linturi Mithika
