Second Carriage Way Under Construction at Athi-River Machakos Turnoff

Traffic on Athi River-Machakos turnoff will be greatly reduced on completion of second carriageway currently under construction. The 21-km stretch will decongest Mombasa road and facilitate faster movement between Nairobi and Machakos and towns along highway to Mombasa. The carriageway is also designed to enhance road safety and convenience and will also feature three river bridges, four interchanges and three pedestrian footbridges.
