“Allow me to greet you all in the name of the father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

My wife, Priscilla, and I are very happy to welcome all of you here at our home today. They say east or west, home is best. I am very happy to return home after two months of illness and healing. We thank God for taking care of us and ensuring our safe return.
This is a thanksgiving service. We are here today for one purpose; TO THANK GOD FOR HEALING ME.

As it is said in the book of Jeremiah chapter 33 verse 6, “I will heal them, and reveal to them the abundance of prosperity.”
I am here today by the grace of God. I have survived by the grace of God. I believe, wherever I am going, God will be with me. He will strengthen me, and show me the way. I don’t have enough words to thank God, for what he has done for me. This is why I have called you here at my home today as my friends, colleagues, and leaders of Meru so that you can help me to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, GOD!

I want to most sincerely thank my County Government team led by Deputy Governor, Titus Ntuchiu, County Secretary, Rufus Miriti, Chief of Staff, Gideon Kimathi, and all those who have worked under them to organize this service. I also want to sincerely thank all those, wherever they are, who continually prayed for me, those who sent me get well messages, bible readings, and messages of hope and encouragement, when I was sick and recovering from Covid-19. May God keep you and bless you immensely.

God talks to us in many ways, and through many mediums. At one time, he even talked through a donkey-you remember Balaam’s donkey?. On reflection, I think God is talking to us through Corona. What is he telling us?

Although we appear strong and powerful, we are weak and vulnerable. We can be here today, and tomorrow we are not there. Let us not behave as if we are here forever; owning the earth and the sky.

Although we all pray and seek a life of ease and comfort, riches, and happiness, we must also be prepared to carry the cross of fear, hardship and suffering in our lives.

That when we are weak in body we shall be strong in spirit. The hardships, difficulties, distresses, pain and suffering should not discourage us and make us bitter. We should always strive to be better. As Saint Paul said in 2nd Corinthians, ” I am strong when I am weak”

Meru needs a fresh supply of oxygen. Time has come for us as Meru people to stand up and carry our own cross up the hill. For many decades we have waited for others to carry the cross for us. We have to learn to do things for ourselves.

For me I feel like Jonah. I was swallowed and was in the belly of the big fish for three days and three nights. He was as good as dead. But when, by the grace of God he was vomited on dry land, he became the greatest missionary to the people of Nineveh. I have been vomited from the belly of Corona. I will be the greatest missionary to the people of Meru. I appeal to all of you -let us reenergize ourselves, let us pick our bags, and continue with fresh momentum, the journey of Making Meru Great.

Because of what I have gone through, from next financial year, we shall start a new public health project. I want to put the health of our people first. I want to launch a massive public health education campaign in partnership with our religious leaders to educate our people on hygiene, and preventive health covering all common communicable and incommunicable diseases such as coronavirus, cancer and diabetes, which have become major killers of our people.

You all know about the story of disabled man who knew the way. Please carry your kionje on your shoulders, so that together we can reach Igombe.
May the Almighty God bless you all, give you love, health and prosperity, and keep away all the diseases, and enemies of your happiness.
