Provisional Re-Opening of the Endmor Steel Millers
From @DrAlfredMutua
I have this morning received an inspection report of the Endmor Steel Millers factory that was closed on July 14th, 2020. From the report and discussions with my team, I have directed for provisional re-opening of the factory from tomorrow,Thursday, July 30th 2020.
The purpose of this provisional re-opening is to practically test whether the measures they have put in place are effective in combating the pollution because some of the issues can only be ascertained when the plant is operational.
Further, there will be a community engagement of the residents to ensure that they are no longer affected by pollution of the factory. To this end, I announce a meeting of the Syokimau representatives (Maximum 7) to meet my officers (Maximum 4) and factory officers ( Maximum 4) at the Mavoko county offices on Saturday, August 8th, 2020 to review status of the pollution and other associated matters.
We will thereafter, make a decision on the re-instating of the operating license of the factory based on assesment of the compliance status. Failure of this and other factories to adhere to environmental and public health standards will not be tolerated and I will not shy from enforcing the law so as to protect the lives of our people.
