Newly Appointed Envoys Induction Training

Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Monica Juma on Tuesday presided over the official opening of the Induction Course for the newly appointed Kenyan envoys at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.  The Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls-General were appointed by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, on May 3, 2019 to serve in Kenya’s Missions abroad. The Cabinet Secretary reminded the Ambassadors that they had a responsibility to service the 45 million Kenyans taking cognizance of the country’s history, geography, culture and development journey that the country has achieved.

“It is on the basis of this understanding that you will be better able to project where our country will be in years to come and use the same as the most critical ingredient in the execution of your duties and responsibilities” CS Juma said.

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb Monica Juma underscored the importance of staying the course of the Foreign policy agenda in the country’s pursuant of a just, peaceful and equitable world and as representatives of H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta abroad.  

“Kenya’s Diplomacy is centered on promoting, protecting and projecting our image and space in the global arena… you represent President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brand, the Government of Kenya and the people of the Republic of Kenya abroad”.

“President Kenyatta, in his wisdom and in the bigger agenda of serving the people of Kenya, chose yourselves as carriers of his message in your respective countries to deliver his foreign policy agenda,” — Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Monica Juma

The CS called on the envoys to have an integrated approach in their roles to better manage the challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape. The six weeks induction training is meant to prepare the envoys to the tasks ahead and refresh their definition of who they are in terms of the country they will be representing,  expose them to the strategic environment they will be expected to impact, and to expose them to the technical aspects of managing a Diplomatic Mission.

Wishing them well in their careers, the Cabinet Secretary encouraged the diplomats to remain patriotic and focused in execution of their duty and mandate in order to deliver on the President’s agenda.
