Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Gets New Operational Vehicles

Today the Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitaton and Irrigation (Mrs) Sicily Kariuki flagged off five operational vehicles to Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company while accompanied by Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Badi. The vehicles are part of the 22 operational vehicles which are set to be used under Nairobi Rivers Basin Rehabilitation and Restoration program; Sewerage Improvement project phase II (NaRSIP II) and Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program.
NaRSIP II aims at enhancing sustainable management of the Nairobi Rivers that support natural ecosystems regeneration, socio-economic activities and improved livelihoods. The project aims to increase sewerage coverage in Nairobi City from the current 48% to 55% by 2023 which will serve over 400,000 residents. Reduce pollution levels of Nairobi Rivers by collecting and treating 80M litres of waste water per day.
