Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker relinquishes his acting as the Governor to the Deputy Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda.

Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Hon. Benson Mutura has relinguished his acting as the Governor of Nairobi City County to H.E the Deputy Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda. He now resumes his duties as the Speaker of Nairobi Assembly.
Hon. Mutura has assured the incoming Governor of his full support. ” As County Assembly we shall be available to provide any legislative support that may be required. We hope to continue working closely including with the Nairobi Metropolitan services for the benefit of Nairobians. I am happy that the few realignments we have effected in the County public service have restored faith in Nairobi and. These benefits should not be lost”. Said Hon.Mutura.
H.E the Deputy Governor Ann Mwenda, while taking over the instruments of power said, “I will lead from the front in spearheading the calling of President Uhuru Kenyatta to radically improve service delivery in the city. My work is clearly cut out and I will focus on building visible achievements as seen in the past few months. I’m not a politician and I will not start being one.
For the avoidance of doubt, my principal partner in delivering services in Nairobi is Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director-General Mohamed Badi and his team. I am focused on bringing a new spirit of collaboration with all organs of government. Nairobi is now back on course,” said H.E Ann Kananu.
On January 15, 2021, Ann Kananu Mwenda was vetted and sworn in as the Deputy Governor Nairobi City County Government.
