Nairobi City County Government Handover Libraries After Renovation

Nairobi City County Government acting  County Secretary Dr. Jairus Musumba together with  County Executive Committee Members for Education Janet Ouko and Health Hitan Majevdia were today the recipients of the newly refurbished Nairobi City County libraries by Book Bunk Trust.

The two libraries namely Kaloleni and Makadara have been under renovation since 2020 by the county in partnership with Book Bunk Trust at a cost of Kshs. 5.9M for Kaloleni Library and Kshs. 23M for Makadara Library.

In a speech read on behalf of the Ag Governor H.E Ann Kananu by the acting County Secretary,

H.E acknowledged  that this achievement would not have been possible without dedication and commitment by the Book Bunk Trust which has been in partnership with Nairobi  County since March 2018.

Said H.E Ann Kananu,”Nairobi City County in its mandate endeavors to work with like-minded individuals and organizations in order to uplift the lives of Nairobi residents through education and provision of effective service delivery. Equally, let me applaud the Kenya Publishers’ Association for donating 1,700 copies of curriculum based books and Book Bank Trust for a job well done. ”

Ms. Ouko thanked Book Bunk Trust for uplifting and transforming the facilities to high standards and also for plans they have  to refurbish the Macmillan library. Ms. Ouko promised that the County would ensure proper  management of the respective facilities as well as maintain  set standards.

The two libraries will serve the larger Eastlands population and other surrounding communities.

The acting County Secretary was accompanied by County Executives; Mohamed Dagane (Roads), Charles Kerich(Urban Planning), Lucia Mulwa(Agriculture), Veska Kangogo (PSM) and Lydia Kwamboka (County Attorney).
