On the third day of my tour to popularize my presidential bid in Mt Kenya region, covering Kiambu, Embu, Kirinyaga and Murang’a counties, this morning I also toured Nyeri county where I paid a courtesy visit to H.E Governor Mutahi Kahiga in his office.

Upon taking office as the Governor of Nyeri, as his first tour of duty outside Nyeri, Mr. Kahiga toured Machakos county accompanied by his entire cabinet where we discussed and forged strong trade ties between our counties in the best interest of our people. Our meeting today assessed the achievements we have scored over the period and explored other areas where we can cooperate on, for instance, production of avocados given that one of the best Avocado factories in Kenya is domiciled in Machakos county.

Agricultural production remains key in spurring economic growth in both Nyeri and Machakos with coffee farming which is practised in both ends playing a pivotal role. We resolved to negotiate for better prices, reduction of taxes, and expand markets for common farm produce.

Growing our counties, especially depends on shareable revenue from the national treasury. We urge Finance Minister Hon. Ukur Yatani to hasten disbursement of county funds to save devolved programmes from grinding to a halt. On the COVID-19 pandemic, we urge government to allocate sufficient funds to purchase vaccines, and ensure the largest population possible is vaccinated. That will allow for faster opening of the economy and set it’s recovery in motion.

Growing the country’s infrastructure, creating jobs for youth, putting women & youth in leadership positions, increasing access to quality healthcare, building industries in every constituency in Kenya, are issues I aim to address & my motivation to run for president in 2022.

They are the reasons why I receive strong backing from across the length and breath of the country, and I have asked Nyeri residents not to be left behind. Kenya is in transformation and yearns for youthful leadership which I am ready to provide.
