Kitui County Textile Centre Embarks on Programme to Train Community Tailors
From @mamangilu
Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC) has embarked on a programme to train community tailors in industrial garment production. This is both a transfer of skills and a wealth creation endeavor that will see community tailors (many of them mothers) from across Kitui County acquire professional skills in garment production to produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Hospital linen and School uniforms.
Governor Ngilu is committed to ensure that proceeds from KICOTEC benefit Kitui people to the last village by enriching and expanding the supply chain, progressively increasing skills development and transfer as well as initiating offshoot development programs around the KICOTEC enterprise. This will undoubtedly create more employment opportunities and increase the county’s revenue. With increased revenue from value addition programs like KICOTEC the County will cushion our small scale traders and businesses from paying taxes that practically kill their businesses.
