Kisumu Youth Innovation Center Coming Soon

May is a special time of the year as the world celebrates youth Service Month.

Throughout the month of May, youths interact in Rotary Youth Exchange opportunities to grow through service, develop skills, mentor and be mentored.

In anticipation to promote skills development and innovation the County government embarked on the construction of the Rotary Youth Innovation Centre in Kisumu City a project which is inline with Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’os commitment to getting youth and young adults actively involved in the development of Kisumu County.

The County Government under the department of Education ICT and Human Resource Development commits to the operation of the Centre. According to the Chief Officer Madam Peninnah Onyango the Centre is equipped to offer excellence in training youths to master their skills. “The Centre provides an opportunity for the youths to augment their knowledge and skill as well as addressing the physical and social needs of the youths while promoting global understanding and peace through service.”

Kisumu Rotary Youth Innovation Centre is set to empower young people in the community to take action in development issues, develop skills and knowledge on a global scale.

The new face, Kisumu Rotary Youth Innovation Centre is set to accommodate conference rooms, resource centers and creative rooms for innovations as well as spaces for people with special needs.  Currently the first Phase of the construction is 98% complete as the second phase which include equipping of the Centre is underway.  

The Kisumu Rotary funded by the World Bank and currently under the County department of Education is set to make skills in the county accessible to all by taking several measures such as promoting youth inclusion for better employment opportunities; social marketing and awareness raising.
