The County Department of Agriculture has partnered with uLima Kenya to provide farm management service including livestock and crop information library as well as calendar, seven days weather forecast in both English and Kiswahili languages.

uLima is an online farmer-based mobile application ecosystem where registered farmers and Agri-dealers offering free access to key information on crops, seeds, soil, livestock, Agri-chemicals, weather updates and market prices, all at their fingertips. The platform links to partners in the agriculture ecosystem, at negotiated, efficient and cost-effective products and services to small and medium farmers in Kenya and gradually to Africa.

uLima endeavors to increase product access to farmers and increase Agri-inputs products and service companies’ revenues through end-to-end marketing. The farmer can access all the services on the platform for free with the companies accessing the platform at a fee.

“uLima is currently in 5 counties including Kericho, Bomet, Trans Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu and Bungoma with Kisumu county being the latest on our footprints.” Said Job Oyoo of uLima Kenya.

The approach follows the selection of 4 of the many sub-counties in the counties named above, where the field offices help the farmers to register download and also trains the farmers how to access the application as well us utilize the products and services there-in.

Through the Mobile APP uLima, farmers would make reference to best farming practices globally being that the application is tailor-made to offer a solution for each farmer in terms of crop calendars, thereby offering step-by-step assistance from pre-planting to post-harvest.
