Kisumu County Court and Alternative Justice System Suite Launched
From x/@CJMarthaKoome and @AnyangNyongo
This afternoon, I was honoured to join Governor Anyang Nyong’o to launch the Kisumu County Court and the [Alternative Justice Systems] AJS Ukumbi Suite. This milestone reflects what’s possible when institutions unite for accessible, inclusive justice rooted in the realities of our people. The Judiciary and counties are partners in justice. Together, we shorten the path to fairness, making it safer and more secure.
The Kisumu County Court is a step forward in delivering justice efficiently, especially in county-related matters. I would also like to commend the County Government of Kisumu for championing Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) with the Ukumbi Suite—a vital bridge for those who find formal justice out of reach. This is just the beginning of a stronger collaboration between the Judiciary and counties. Onward to a future of justice for all!
— Chief Justice Martha Koome
Today, I had the honour of joining Hon. Martha Koome, Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, in officially opening the new Kombewa Law Courts a monumental step in bringing justice closer to the people. This is a proud moment for our community. No longer will our people have to travel long distances to Maseno or Kisumu in search of legal redress.
The Kombewa Law Courts stand as a beacon of justice, accessibility, and progress. Congratulations to the Judiciary and all stakeholders for making this dream a reality. Justice must not only be done, but also be seen to be within reach.
