Kenya Embarks on First UN Peace Keeping Mission

In March 1989 Moi bid farewell to the Kenyan Peace Keeping forces heading to Namibia. It was the first time Kenya deployed peacekeepers on a UN Mission. In Oct 1989 while at UNTAG Headquarters in Sviderhof, Namibia the Kenyan peace keeping contingent was visited by the then UN Sec. Gen. Javier Perez De Cuellar.
