Humpback Whale Migration at Kenya Coast
From Twitter/@tunajibu
I put out to sea this morning, in Watamu to whale-watch. Every year, Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to warmer climates, congregating in Kenyan waters between July and August to calve and mate. During my sail, I spotted a mother and her calf.
I learnt that a female humpback whale has a calf every two to three years. She carries her young for a gestation period of about 12 months and they have a lifespan of around 50 years. Amazing creatures! — CS Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala
