Health CS Kagwe Evaluates COVID-19 Preparedness in Machakos County
Statement by Dr. Alfred Mutua, Governor of Machakos County
Today I hosted the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe in Machakos during his visit to evaluate our level of preparedness in dealing with the Corona Virus pandemic. I took the Cabinet Secretary on a tour of our COVID-19 Testing and Isolation Centre situated at the Kenyatta stadium. The unique tented centre is dived in two sections to accommodate both female and male patients, and is adequately supported with heaters to warm the facility.
We toured the state of the art Cancer Care and Research Centre at Machakos Level 5 Hospital that continues to offer treatment to our people in Machakos at absolutely no cost, one year since it’s launch. For me, provision of quality healthcare has been at the core of my heart since I took office in 2013, and I am determined to make sure that Machakos County continues to rank first in provision healthcare not only in Kenya, but also within the African region.
I also want to commend our doctors, nurses and all the officers who are at the front line of fighting this disease. I thank you. My government will continue to ensure that your working conditions are good, even as we pursue all measures possible to improve your morale.
