Great Strides in Healthcare Thanks to Devolution

It was a great honor to host the Council of Governors meeting at my Machakos office today. The meeting reiterated a number of issues, key among them being that as counties, we remain central in the fight against COVID-19 and overall health care to Kenyans. Further, we emphasized that we have seen great progress in the health sector since the onset of devolution. We have hired more health workers, improved health infrastructure to better management of the health sector. We insist that this present status quo, be maintained.
I’m happy that Machakos Level 5 hospital is one of the COVID-19 testing centres. I am also cognizant of the fact that we still do not have enough centres to allow for mass testing across the country, which is very important in the management of this pandemic. I urge us all to continue to take the necessary precautions as guided by the government and our health workers and together, we will win this COVID War.
