Governors in Consultation on BBI
I am currently attending a special sitting of the Council of Governors to deliberate on the BBI proposals. We have been joined by Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga for clarification of the thinking behind some issues. It is commonly agreed that KENYA is not where it is supposed to be, necessitating changes to create an environment of stability and prosperity. I look at the BBI proposals from the view of what the future holds for Kenya & for millions of young people wanting lead a decent life.
It is our responsibility as leaders to create systems that ensure the dream of any child of Kenya is realized. We need to cut down on bureaucracy and provide ways that promote growth of the economy and more money in the pockets of each Kenyan. I am especially pleased with the increase in the funds allocated to counties, the ward development fund and the tax break of seven years for young entrepreneurs. These, together with the industrialization proposals will create a richer Kenyan & in extension a more stable country. — Governor of Machakos County, Dr. Alfred Mutua (Twitter/@DrAlfredMutua)
Devolution improved service delivery across our nation. It should be strengthened. I engaged Governors on the BBI process and enjoyed listening to their perspective on the way forward. – Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga (Twitter @RailaOdinga)
