Government Announce 121 New Cases of COVID-19
The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe has announced 121 new cases of coronavirus, out of the 3,291 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours.
This now brings the total number of confirmed positive cases to 3,215 from 106,247 sampled tests so far, the statement from the Health Ministry said.
Out of today’s cases, 115 are Kenyans and six are foreigners, while 92 are males and 29 are females. The youngest is a four month old infant while the oldest is 86 years of age.
“We have also discharged 44 patients who have recovered from COVID-19 from various hospitals bringing the number of our recoveries to 1,092,” the CS said.
He also announced that three more patients have died as a result of the disease, bringing the tally of fatalities to 92.
The 121 cases are distributed in Nairobi, 49 cases, Busia, 37, Mombasa, 20, Kajiado, five, Migori, four, Kiambu, and Kilifi, two cases each while Muranga, and Nyeri have one case each.
Nairobi cases are from Kibra, 18, Westlands, nine, Kamukunji, and Ruaraka, four cases each, Dagoretti North, three, Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, Langata, two cases each while Embakasi South, Kasarani, Roysambu, Starehe and Makadara have one case each.
In Busia, the CS noted that all the 37 cases are of truck drivers, at Malaba border point while in Mombasa, 20 cases are from Likoni, seven, Mvita, five, Kisauni, three, Jomvu, and Changamwe, two cases each, and Nyali, one case.
In Kajiado, the five cases are from Kajiado East, three cases and Kajiado Central, two while in Migori, the four cases are from Suna East, two cases, Kuria West, and Kuria East, one case each.
The two cases in Kiambu are from Ruiru and Kiambu Town. In Kilifi, the two cases are from Kilifi North, while Muranga one case is from Kiharu, and Nyeri, one case is from Nyeri Central.
“I am hopefully that in the new budget 2020/2021 the Ministry of Health will be allocated sufficient funds that will enable it to effectively manage, not only the Coronavirus pandemic, but also other diseases and life threatening disasters,” the CS noted.
He also reported that the Ministry of Health is currently providing drugs and other essential items, such as mosquito nets and water purifiers to the. people who have been affected by the floods.
