Agriculture Executive Member, Carol Mutiga, has distributed agricultural tools and equipment to 29 farmer groups; 16 in Buuri Sub-County and 13 in Abogeta East Ward, through the National Agriculture and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) implemented by the county government.

Intended to maximise profitability and productivity in macadamia, potatoes, avocado and banana value chains, this forms part of Governor Kiraitu’s intent to empower farmers through impactful agricultural practices that promote food security, as well as improved returns to farmers. While he led his contituents in receipt, Abogeta East MCA Karinga Mwirigi thanked the county leadership for the gesture he said would encourage more farming.

Small holder farmer groups in Mwangathia, Kiguchwa, Igoji East, Nyaki East, Amwathi, Akirangondu, Antuambui and Ntima West wards have also received a similar tools & equipment and seeds support in the recent past to promote investments along the aforesaid value chains.
