Director Arrested for Abandoning Bachuma Livestock Export Zone Project

Wesley Kibet Mogotei, Director Techniques Supplies Ltd was today arrested for failing to deliver on contracted works at the Bachuma Livestock Export Zone project in Taita-Taveta County. Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya confirmed the contractor had abandoned the site for a year despite being paid 68 per cent of the total cost of the project by the National Government. Only 45 per cent of the total works is complete.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary accompanied by the Presidential Delivery Unit Secretary Andrew Wakahiu also directed the arrest of the Public Works supervising engineer for negligence of duty. The stalled project was brought to the attention of NDICC by the Coast Regional Commissioner, John Elungata.
