CS Wandanyi Tours Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Storage Facility in Kilifi County

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has said that the Ksh.8 billion Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facility in Kilifi County will [shield] Kenyans from high prices. CS Wandayi spoke during a site visit to access the preparedness of the Lake Oil Kenya facility for the arrival of the first vessel carrying 12,000 metric tons of LPG.

“In the end, the facility will have 25,000 metric tons’ capacity for LPG gas which will go a long way in ensuring security of supply to Kenyans which will ultimately reduce the cost of LPG gas to the mwananchi,” said the CS.

CS Wandayi added that, the first vessel of LPG will arrive in two weeks’ time which will mark the opening of the facility. We anticipate 12,000 metric tons of LPG into the country. The CS said that the government is committed to provide an enabling environment for the private sector to invest their money which will help in creating employment opportunity to the youths.

He was accompanied by Petroleum PS M Liban, Kilifi Governor Gideon Mungaro, Kenya Ports Authority Chairman Benjamin Dalu, KPA’s Managing Director Captain William Ruto, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga and other government officials.
