The anniversary of the death of Kenya’s founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta will be marked tomorrow, 22nd August. Another anniversary in Mzee Kenyatta’s life history is 20th October, a national holiday to commemorate the detention of the Kapenguria Six that he was part of. The Kapenguria Six, who are immortalised in Kenya’s history, were Mzee Kenyatta, Kungu Karumba, Achieng Oneko, Paul Ngei, Bildad Kaggia and Fred Kubai.

President Kenyatta Rewards Triumphant Tokyo Olympics Team

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, at State House Mombasa, received representatives of the triumphant Kenyan contingent to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he announced cash rewards of Shs 1 million, 750,000 and 500,000 for Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists respectively. The Head of State further announced a uniform token of Shs 200,000 for all athletes and officials, including the Paralympics team, currently participating in the delayed Summer Games.

His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Mombasa met a cross-section of Political Party Leaders to discuss the country’s Covid-19 containment measures in the wake of rising infection and mortality rates. At the meeting attended by The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga (ODM), Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Hon. Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Hon. Gideon Moi (KANU) and Hon. Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), the leaders agreed to play a leading role in encouraging Kenyans to abide by the Covid-19 containment protocols and interventions including uptake of vaccines.

It Is A New Dawn For The Kenya-Somalia Relations, President Kenyatta Says

President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Mombasa, held talks with Somalia Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble during which the two leaders agreed to reset the Kenya-Somalia relations. For the two countries to prosper, President Kenyatta, who led the Kenyan delegation at the bilateral talks, said there’s need to collaborate more in areas such as security, trade and investment by fully implementing the 2015 Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC).

National and County Governments Resolve to Develop a Single Levy Agreement for Traders

The cost of doing business in the country could be headed for a drastic reduction after the National and County Governments agreed in principle to eliminate multiple levies and fees charged on goods transported across counties. A consultative forum between the Cabinet committee on National Government development and the Council of Governors resolved to restrict such charges to the county of origin essentially saving traders and businesses from numerous CESS and other fees currently levied by county governments.
