Alfred Mutua Engages Lamu Grassroot Mandeleo Chap Chap Officials
By Dr Alfred Mutua, Governor of Machakos County from Twiiter/@DrAlfredMutua
Today I was honored to engage with Maendeleo Chap Chap Party grassroots officials in Lamu. We had meaningful discussions on the economic future and social well-being of our people. I challenge our political leaders to focus on ensuring citizens access Government services equitably, irrespective of their political affiliation. Political marginalization is one of the biggest challenges to economic development.
As leaders we must focus on bringing balance on matters development. As a development conscious and vision driven leader, my desire is to reduce the widening gap between the haves and have-nots. Our country Kenya is blessed with resources, but there is an underlying challenge of unequal society as some places have been marginalized. It is an obligation of political leaders to ensure Kenyans get their entitlement as citizens.
Our focus as a country should be on industrialization and development of quality workforce. One of the major problems in Kenya is lack of jobs. As Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, our vision is to set up factories at constituency and Ward level in order to empower the down trodden. It is high time Kenyans begun holding political leaders to account by setting performance bar for those holding public offices. As a country we must agree on the bare minimum in terms of what we expect on service delivery by our leaders.
Developed nations world over achieved their status through equity in distribution of resources rather than ethnic-driven political power games. The rich and developed nations do not thrive on BBI or handshakes, but through sound economic and social development policies.
