Launch of National Computer and Cyber-crimes Coordination Committee

The government is keen to bring to a stop computer misuse and other related Cyber-crimes. This was announced by Cabinet Secretary @InteriorKE Dr. Fred Matiang’i during the Launch of National Computer and Cyber-crimes Coordination Committee (NC4) at the KICD. The NC4 is a multi-agency team established by an Act of Parliament to oversee, provide direction, coordinate actions and monitor implementation and enforcement of policies relating to cyber security and computer systems.
Accompanying the CS were Cabinet Secretary for ICT Mr. Joe Mucheru, PS Ministry of Interior Dr. Eng. Karanja Kabicho, PS Ministry of Broadcasting and Telecommunications Mrs. Esther Koimett, Inspector-General of Police Mr. Hilary Mutyambai, Communication Authority CEO, Mr.Ezra Chiloba among other Committee members.
The NC4 emphasized on the urgent need to secure cyberspace for the people of Kenya through a collaborative approach so as to realize a Digital led economy. The CS Interior noted that it has reached a point in time where universe is being controlled by Data, Devices and Designs (3D). He thus challenged all the NC4 and co-opted institutions to invest massively by deepening knowledge through training and developing institutional capacities so as to cope with the rapidly changing technologies, and to effectively combat cybercrimes.
