CECM in charge of Health in Meru, Meshack Mutuma, noted that the county had already set a functional 20 bed capacity isolation ward at Meru Teaching and referral Hospital with all necessary equipment in readiness for the same.

“We request traders to ensure they comply with sanitary requirements, in their respective business environments to ensure effective prevention of this corona virus menace” said Mr Mutuma.

Allan Machari, the County Commissioner Meru, asked the people to avoid congestion by only attending very essential meetings. The commissioner noted they would not hesitate to close any club , hotel or supermarket that did not observe basic hygiene or required sanitary standards. However, he noted this would be accessed case by case. “Following the presidential directive we have closed all the day schools and will ensure all boarding schools close by wednesday and the tertiary institutions by Friday,” said Mr Machari.
