With Kitchen gardens, vulnerable households can ensure inexpensive, regular and handy supplies of fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices, eggs and meat. Well-planned kitchen gardens also guarantee households access to a healthy diet that contain adequate macro and micro-nutrients. The demo kitchen garden show cases different technologies that can be used in different Agro-Ecological Zones. The demo garden has 12 kitchen garden technologies that households can choose from. Farmers choose which technologies to set up upon being advised by the county staff.
During stay at home time, the CAS encourages parents to actively involve their children with fun agricultural activities such as setting up kitchen gardens which shall build their interest and impart them with knowledge and skills on how to undertake agriculture. This will be the first step to introducing our children to agriculture as the await to reopen schools where they can practice agriculture through 4k-clubs. She concluded the event by sharing a scrumptious Spinach cake with the public, farmers and staff present and thanked the MOALFC staff for the hard work put in setting up the event and making sure everything ran smoothly while adhering to Covid-19 guidelines.
