Former MP John Njoroge Chege Found Guilty of Soliciting and Receiving a Bribe

Former Member of Parliament for Kasarani Constituency John Njoroge Chege found guilty of soliciting and receiving a bribe of Kshs.100,000, ordered to pay a fine of Kshs 1.3 million by the Milimani Anti-corruption Court. The former MP will pay Kshs.650,000 for soliciting the bribe and Kshs.650,000 for receiving the bribe seven years ago. He will serve one year imprisonment in default.
Anti-Corruption Court Magistrate Hon. Lawrence Mugambi convicted the former MP for seeking and receiving the bribe from a contractor to facilitate payment of Kshs. 3,342,716 from the Constituency Development Fund for construction of a tuition block at Babadogo Secondary School.
